#ThrowbackThursday: These Groups Showed Us What 'Girl Power' Is All About!

For all the ladies out there, you surely wished to become like them, or be part of their groups. While for the guys, as what one of them sang, you wished your girlfriend was hot like them, didn't you?

As we throw it back today, let's take a look at some of the girl groups who stunningly took the music scene by storm and once gave the ladies an anthem that they will always remember!

1. Salt-N-Pepa

Salt-N-Pepa is a three-piece group composed of Cheryl "Salt" James, Deidra "Dee Dee" Roper and Sandra "Pepa" Denton. These girls are the voices behind the hit songs "Shoop" and "Whatta Man."

2. B*Witched

These girls charmed us with their sweet voices and cutesy dance moves. Plus their well-synced fashion sense! Sinead O'Carrol, Lindsay Armaou, Keavy Lynch and Edele Lynch launched their hits "C'est La Vie" and "Rollercoaster" during the late 90's.



3. Sugababes

Composed of Siobhan Donaghy, Keisha Buchanan and half-Filipina Mutya Buena, Sugababes gave us the hits "Round Round," the very uplifting and inspiring song "Ugly," and of course, who would forget "Push The Button"?




4. Atomic Kitten

Liz McClarnon, Natasha Hamilton and Kerry Katona, collectively known as Atomic Kitten, rose to fame around 1999 and 2000 with the release of their hit songs "Right Now" and "See Ya."

They also gave their own flavor to well-known hits "Eternal Flame" and "The Tide Is High."

5. Blaque

Blaque is a 90's girl group composed of Shamari Fears, Brandi Williams and the late Natina Reed.

They're known for their hit songs "Bring It All To Me," "As If," "Questions," to name a few.

6. The Braxtons

The Braxtons consist of sisters Toni, Traci, Towanda, Trina and Tamar Braxton. They are well known for their single "Only Love," which was released in 1997.

7. Honeyz

Honeyz was formed in 1997 with members Celena Cherry, Heavenlu Denton and Mariama Goodman.

Their hit songs include "Finally Found" and "End Of The Line," among others.

8. Solid HarmoniE

Even though they were only visible in the music scene for a short time, Solid HarmoniE was able to leave a mark with their song "I'll Be There For You," released way back 1997.

9. Cleopatra

Sisters Cleo, Yonah and Zainam formed a group called Cleopatra and released their debut single "Cleopatra," which stormed the Billboard charts during the late 90's.



10. SWV

SWV, which stands for Sisters With Voices rose to fame during the early 90's with the release of their hit songs "Weak" and "Right Here / Human Nature," to name a few.



11. All Saints

All Saints, composed of Melanie Blatt, Shaznay Lewis and sisters Natalie and Nicole Appleton, are known for their hit songs "Never Ever," "Pure Shores," "Lady Marmalade," "I Know Where It's At," and more.





12. TLC

T-Boz, the late Left Eye and Chilli are one of the most successful girl groups during the 90's. They are known for their songs "Creep," "Waterfalls," "No Scrubs," "Unpretty" and "Dear Lie," among others.






13. Pussycat Dolls

Pussycat Dolls or PCD is a 6-piece group known for their girl power-screaming songs like "Don't Cha" and "When I Grow Up."

The group is composed of Melody Thornton, Jessica Sutta, Ashley Roberts, Kimberly Wyatt, Carmit Bachar and half-Filipina Nicole Scherzinger.






14. Destiny's Child

During the early 90's, Destiny's Child were known as a quartet composed of Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin. They released their hit songs "Say My Name," "Bills, Bills, Bills," "Bug A Boo" and "Jumpin' Jumpin" as a quartet.

In the early 2000's Franklin left the group and the remaining three members released a brand new album. Since then, they have spawned hit songs like "Survivor," "Independent Women," "Bootylicious," "Lose My Breath," "Cater 2 U," and more, making them one of the best-selling girl groups in the music scene.





15. Spice Girls

Probably the most well-known girl group of all time, Spice Girls released a list of hits that fans will never forget even 10 or 20 years from now. We all get that nostalgic feeling whenever we hear their songs "Wannabe," "Say You'll Be There," "2 Become 1," "Spice Up Your Life," "Stop" and more!
