He's a globally recognized pop star in his own right.
Now Apl.De.Ap is helping other hopefuls fulfill their music career dreams, with the launch of her very own record label.
"I was a struggling musician, I was a starving musician, so Boombox is really about giving back, giving opportunities to different artists from different regions," says Apl.
The Black Eyed Peas' Apl.de.ap and his manager, Audie Vergara, recently launched BMBX (pronounced "boombox") Entertainment, a new music label and production company that's aiming to start a movement.
According to Apl, "BMBX movement is really creating a movement within our country and our neighbor countries - Southeast Asia. We just need to really pay attention with our artists that are coming out of our country and really unify everyone. And all of us needs to collaborate with this movement. Then we get noticed. Then we go to the Western world. But before we get there, we have to start giving chances with our own kababayans, or our neighboring Southeast Asian countries. That's what Boombox is."
It has already signed a couple of artists, including Singaporean rapper Kevin Lester, Filipino singer Jessica Reynoso, Filipino metal band Slapshock and the young Filipino talent Miguel Antonio.
Everyone got the taste of what they have to offer as Apl.de.ap and his BMBX artists wowed everyone at the"BMBX Launch Party" last September 12th, 2014 at the Hard Rock Cafe, Makati.
"TheLionCityBoy" kicked-off the night with his infectious hip-hop music. He's one to have a soul etched to the groove of Hip Hop with the perfect mix of R&B. His music definitely got the party started.
Jessica Reynoso was among the last six artists of Team Apl in the first season of "The Voice of the Philippines," wowed everyone with her rich and powerful voice.
Miguel Anotnio, the 13-year-old singing prodigy. This young talent is an emerging singer-songwriter, he can play several musical instruments as well, his piano skills are actually self-taught. We call him an "old soul with a young body" as he loves bands like Beatles, Journey, Eagles, Guns and Roses artiste like Michael Jackson, Michael Bolton, Michael W. Smith, Andrea Bocceli, and so much more!
The BMBX family is truly a big one. At the BMBX launch party, singer Thanh Bùi who was a contestant on the 6th season of Australian Idol and one of the four judges of The Voice of Vietnam Kids left everyone in awe with his performance.
Indonesian singer Sheryl Gething, better known by her stage name Shae's rapid-fire spitting rapping combined with JR's powerful vocals resulted in an amazing track, it's bouncy beats and horn blasts is truly make it a clap-heavy, twerk-friendly song.
