Known as Giacomo Puccini's most romantic opera, the timeless story of "La Boheme" was actually the basis and inspiration for the popular rock musical "Rent". It showcases some of the most exquisite singing talent by stars like our very own Rosa Ponselle awardee, Filipina soprano Margarita Giannelli, plus American tenor Scott Ramsay, Italian-Brazilian baritone Fernando Aquajo, rising soprano Myramae Meneses, Nonon Baang, Greg de Leon and young singers from Viva Voce. With international director Dr. Anton Juan on command and the Manila Symphony Orchestra conducted by maestro Jonathan Velasco, it's definitely an assembly of overflowing and powerhouse talent!
Although opera may not be too recognized in the local mainstream now, this particular show is for all ages. During the press launch held in Makati, it was evident that the entire cast and production team is beyond ecstatic to share their hardwork and passion to the local stage as they see great potential for the much respected opera scene to develop and grow here in the Philippines. Anyone will be able to relate and appreciate what La Boheme is really all about and that is why you should see and experience it yourself!
