Both hungry for glory - another amazing match just went down between Pacquiao and Algieri! But in the end, Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao took it home!
"I did my best and I think that's enough!" said Manny Pacquiao and clearly, his best was more than enough!
In the first round, Manny winged many shots and tried to trap Algieri, but he was moving all over the arena. Manny was able to score a knockdown as Algieri slipped in the corner during the second round.
Pacman continued to fire punches while Algieri also continued to circle and move around - not throwing punches. He later on landed a shot on Pacquiao but he was able to shake it off in the third round. In the fourth round, Pacman dug a heavy left to Algieri's body! Algieri bobbed and weaved, trying to get out of trouble. At that point, Manny's power was getting on to Algieri.
In the next round, Algieri was able to land a short right on Pacquiao while he was coming in, warning him for low blows. In the sixth round, Manny had Algieri on the floor twice, with one of the knockdowns looking like another slip by Algieri. The audience was heated up and Algieri became desperate to get back into the game, wildly throwing punches after.
By the 8th round, Manny had already won all previous rounds!
Manny continued to go after Algieri in full force, causing him to knock him down once again in the ninth round with his powerful combinations! Algieri didn't give up, but at that point, you could already tell he wasn't in good condition, looking disoriented. Pacquiao then knocked him down again in the tenth round with "a punch of the century"!
And at that point, it was already predicted that Manny would be taking home the gold!
"Manny is the best in the world! He has a very very distinct style. He's very good at being Manny Pacquiao. He's one hell of a fighter!" said Algieri after the match, officially congratulating Manny on the championship!
It was a clean match and Algieri came in confident, but at the end of the match, he was happy he got to fight the best in the game - Manny Pacquiao.
