Filipino rapper Gloc-9 continues to tell real-life tales with another big collaboration.
After sharing the story of the plight of a prostitute interpreted from the point of view of the person who loved her in "Magda", Gloc-9 has more powerful tales to tell.
"Takipsilim" is the second single from the OPM rapper's latest album "Liham at Lihim".
"Hanggang ngayon pag pinapakinggan ko yung song, kinikilig talaga 'ko e. Kahit yung process namin ng recording, isa sa pinaka-memorable recording days ko as a recording artist," reveals Gloc-9 when asked about his experiences in recording his collaboration with Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez. "Sa bawat album na ginagawa ko lately, nag-iisip talaga ako ng song na pwede kong ioffer kay Ma'am Regine. Nagkakataon din na 'pag natatapos ko yung songs, iniisip ko din kung pwede siya, dito lang sa Liham at Lihim na album meron akong isang song na natisod na baka pwede," he added.
Regine Velasquez's magnificent vocal prowess begins the track with the chorus that goes:
Di ko sana binatawan ang iyong mga kamay
At sa paglipas ng taon ako sa'yo ay sumabay
Alalayan at masamahan ka sa huli
'Yan ay 'di ko ginawa,
Noong ikaw ay akin pa
Indeed the feelings of the song will draw some raw emotions from regret -- layered with frustration and melancholy. And no one else besides Regine Velasquez could do this song justice.
"Takipsilim" refuses to talk about love. It's a story about one who was left behind, the one who's learned the lessons of living in the present and a testament of why time should never be wasted.
It's lyrical content is bound to send anyone into the world of the nameless characters in the story. Why or how their relationship ended is unresolved and the track is sure to make anyone feel nostalgic and reminiscent of the things of the past. But aside from the poetry of words in the track, the power of "Takipsilim" is in the fact that two of the biggest names of the original Pilipino music, from two very different genres, have collaborated for this.
His last music video for "Magda" brought home the Favorite Song, Favorite Urban Video, Favorite Collaboration and Favorite Music Video in the MYX Music Awards 2014. "Takipsilim" seems it can go even further.
The music video is directed by Toper Santos and will be released soon. It's certainly something we should all watch out for.
